Learn More About The Giraffe Drawing

In this really easy drawing tutorial you will learn to draw a simple giraffe.

Giraffes are the tallest animals in the world. They are known for their long necks, which they use to reach tasty leaves high in the trees.

Although their necks are very long, they contain the same number of bones as your own neck - only the bones are much, much bigger!

Giraffes are also unique in that they have four stomachs rather than one. This helps them to digest tough leaves and twigs.

Another adaptation is the giraffe's fifteen inch long tongue. The giraffe's tongue is tough and covered in hair so that it can pull leaves from thorny trees.

The ancient Egyptians kept giraffes as pets and gave them their own hieroglyphic symbol.

The surrealist painter Salvador Dali included flaming giraffes in his paintings.

Melman the giraffe played a supporting role in the 2005 film Madagascar, and Geoffrey the giraffe has been the "spokesanimal" of the Toys "R" Us stores since the 1950's.
