1. Begin by drawing an oval or circle. This will form the elephant's head.

2. Extend a long, curved line from one side of the oval. Allow it to travel beneath the oval and attach to it on the opposite side. This outlines the lower half of the elephant's face - the chin and cheeks.

3. Draw the elephant's trunk by extending a pair of curved lines from the middle of the face. Enclose them at the end with an egg shape. Draw two small ovals within the egg shape to form the nostrils, and detail the top of the trunk with horizontal curved lines.

4. Erase guide lines from the elephant's face.

5. Use curved lines to outline the elephant's ears. Notice the pointed tip. Then, draw a slightly smaller shape within each ear, parallel to the original outline. Draw a few curved lines extending from the head.

6. Detail the elephant's face. Draw a few short, curved lines at the top of the head to form a tuft of hair. For each eye, draw a horizontal curved line and enclose an oval above it. Then draw a circle containing a smaller circle and a tiny oval. Shade the smaller circle to form the pupil. Finally, enclose a curved shape above each eye to indicate the eyebrows.

7. Draw the front legs using overlapping "U" shaped lines. Then, use small "U" shaped lines to enclose the toenails.
