How to Draw a Great Looking Computer for Kids and Beginners - Step 1
1. Begin by drawing a rectangular shape. Place the horizontal lines on a slightly diagonal angle, as this will give the drawing depth. The top line should be slightly shorter than the bottom line, forming a trapezoid. This forms the laptop's screen.

2. Draw a straight line parallel to the near side of the screen. Attach it to the corners of the screen with curved lines. This gives the screen a three-dimensional appearance.

3. Draw a straight line at a diagonal angle from the far bottom corner. This begins the outline of the keyboard. Continue the curved line at the near bottom corner of the screen beneath the shape of the screen. This, too, adds to the three-dimensional appearance. Allow one side of the line to curl, forming one corner of the keyboard.

4. Use two curved lines to complete the rhombus, fully enclosing the keyboard. Note the rounded corners.

5. Draw a short, straight line upward from the nearest corner of the keyboard. Then, use two straight lines to connect it to the opposite corners. This gives the keyboard a three-dimensional shape.

6. Draw a rectangle within the upper portion of the laptop, outlining the edges of the screen.

7. Draw a rectangle shape within the lower portion of the laptop. This outlines the keyboard keys. Draw straight lines parallel to the near sides, providing a three-dimensional appearance. Then, draw parallel lines in one direction, then in the other. The lines should cross each other at right angles, forming the keys.

8. Draw oblong rounded shapes and small circles along the front and side of the bottom portion of the laptop. These indicate the computer's ports, such as those for charging, headphones, memory cards, and other connections.

For example, one computer built in 1946 "weighed 30 tons, and had 18,000 vacuum tubes" which were used for processing.

By 1981, the first laptop computer was invented. Truly, technology had come a long way since the first room-filling behemoths. Yet, this "portable" computer still weighed more than 24 pounds and had a tiny 5-inch screen.

Today, laptops often have 15 to 17-inch screens and weigh only 1 to 2.3 kilograms (approximately 2 to 5 pounds). They can easily be placed in a backpack or briefcase and carried to work, to the coffee shop, or around the world.

Not only are today's computers smaller and lighter, but they are much more powerful as well. According to The Guardian, the computers guiding the Apollo 11 moon rocket had "less computing power than a washing machine."
