Hydrangea blooms are made up of many smaller, individual flowers. They grow in clusters on a shrub or bush. Did you know? Some hydrangeas change color based on the soil they are planted in. Acidic soil will produce blue flowers, while an alkaline soil will produce pink flowers.

There are around 23 species of hydrangeas, and they are native to Asia and the Western Hemisphere.

Their name means "water jar" in Greek because the plants like ample moisture. They can be very big, up to 15 feet tall. Today, people grow them in gardens all over the world.

Like roses, hydrangeas are often used in wedding bouquets. Pink hydrangeas are used to symbolize heartfelt emotions like love and gratitude, and blue hydrangeas are given with an apology.
