How to Draw a Great Looking Mosque for Kids and Beginners - Step 1
1. Begin the mosque outline by sketching the front of the building. First, draw a large rectangle with a narrow rectangle on top of it. Enclose two more sets of rectangles on each side. The narrow rectangle should appear to overlap the others.

2. Draw the next level of the cartoon mosque, enclosing a large rectangle in the center and two smaller ones beside it. Draw a narrow horizontal rectangle on top of the large one. Above it, draw a large and small half-circle. This forms the mosque's iconic dome.

Easy Mosque Drawing - Step 3
3. Enclose the half-circle shapes of two smaller domes beside the large one. On top of the dome, draw a narrow triangle with a crescent moon shape on top of it. On the front of the building, draw a rectangular door. Enclose a partial teardrop shape around it using two curved lines.

4. Draw arch-shaped doorways on the front of the mosque, and arch-shaped windows on the second level. On the first floor, use curved and straight lines to enclose windows in the shape of teardrops with flat bottoms.

5. Draw arched openings in the middle of the second level. Then, sketch the narrow towers or minarets. For each minaret, draw a vertical rectangle with an inverted trapezoid on top. Then, draw a horizontal rectangle on top of the trapezoid. Repeat this pattern to form the second layer of the tower.

6. Continue building the minarets. On top of each, draw a rectangle, a triangle, and a small circle. Extend a vertical line from the circle and place a crescent moon shape on top.

7. Draw another minaret in the background using a series of shapes. From the bottom, draw a rectangle, trapezoid, horizontal rectangle, vertical rectangle, triangle, circle, vertical line, and crescent moon.

8. Draw a fourth minaret in the background, again, use a rectangle, trapezoid, horizontal rectangle, vertical rectangle, triangle, circle, vertical line, and crescent moon.

9. Complete your mosque outline by drawing the landscape around it. Use straight lines for the horizon line and the pathway in front of the mosque. Use curved lines to sketch the trees in the distance and the clouds in the sky.
Color Your Mosque Drawing

A mosque is a house of prayer in the Islamic religion. It is similar to the churches, temples, or synagogues of other faiths. You can learn about Islamic culture as you discover how to draw a mosque.
Five times each day, a muezzin (meaning "crier") announces from the tower or minaret that it is time for prayer.
Inside the mosque, there are rugs or mats on the ground on which people may kneel to pray. There is also an elevated area called a minbar from which a person may preach.
Mosques are located all over the world. Typically, each community that is home to Muslim worshippers has its own mosque.

You can see similar architecture in other structures as well. Though not technically a mosque, a shrine called the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem has a large golden dome.
The famous Taj Mahal has a similar architecture with domes and minarets. It is not a mosque either, but a mausoleum - a funeral structure. Interestingly, the Taj Mahal does have a mosque attached to it.
