1. Draw an irregular rounded shape, like an upside-down teardrop with a rounded point. This will help you sketch the running man's head.

2. Erase one side of the shape. In its place, sketch the man's profile. Use short, curved lines that meet at points to draw his hair. Then, use curved lines to outline the forehead, nose, mouth, and chin. Use two curved lines that meet at a point to form the mouth.

3. Detail the man's face. Use a "C" shaped line to form the ear and detail it with smaller lines inside it. Use curved lines to draw the hairline, passing behind the ear - notice the square shape of the hairline at the forehead. Shade a small oval or circle for the eye, with curved lines above it to indicate the eyelid and eyebrow.

4. Erase the bottom of the head to make way for the neck. Extend two curved lines downward to form the neck. Then, use curved lines to outline the torso and sleeveless shirt. Notice the "C" shaped arm opening.

5. Sketch the man's muscular arm. Use curved lines to form the shoulder, upper arm, and lower arm. Note the bend of the elbow and the small dimple. Then, use curved lines to outline the hand, fingers, and thumb.

6. Outline the remaining arm and hand. Use a long, curved line and double it back upon itself.
