Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Rabbit

How to Draw a Great Looking Rabbit for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the rabbit outline by drawing the face. This cute bunny has big, round eyes that are slightly pointed at the corners.
Inside the eye, draw a curved line, and shade the round shape to indicate the pupil. Draw a small boomerang shape for the wiggly nose, and trace the front of the face using a curved line.
Drawing Step 2

2. Draw the ear of the cartoon rabbit using a pair of curved lines that meet at a gentle point. At the base of the ear, overlap short curved lines in a jagged fashion to lend the appearance of fur.
Draw a rounded “W” below the nose to outline the mouth. On one side, let the arm of the “W” touch the nose. Draw the bunny rabbit’s lower jaw using a curved line.

Drawing Step 4

4. Draw the side of the rabbit’s face and shoulder. Use a series of curved lines that meet at jagged points to give it a furry appearance.
Use similar sets of lines to contour above the eye and at the side of the nose and mouth.
Drawing Step 5

5. Draw the rabbit’s chest and the front of its foreleg. For each, use a series of lines that meet at furry, jagged points.
Drawing Step 6

6. Outline the front leg using a long curved line. At the top of the leg, draw short, overlapping lines to give the appearance of fur. Detail the toes with short curved lines.
Drawing Step 7

7. Draw the remaining foreleg. Outline it with a curved line and draw a short line near the tip. Then, draw a long curved line from the shoulder to form the bunny’s back and haunches.
Double the line back upon itself at the tip to form the rear foot. Notice the furry detail on the hip.

For the tail, use short lines that meet at jagged points. Notice the pointed tip as well.
Color Your Rabbit Drawing

Color your cartoon rabbit. We’ve shaded ours brown with white markings. In the wild, most rabbits are brown and grey to blend in with their surroundings.
Some turn white in the winter so that they are camouflaged in the snow. Pet bunnies come in many colors, including black, brown, white, grey, and spotted.
