1. Begin by sketching the top of the dinosaur's head. Use a curved line for the snout, a scalloped line for the eye ridge, and another curved line for the back of the head and the neck.

2. Draw the dinosaur's open jaws. First, use a curved line to sketch the bottom of the upper jaw. Overlap this with another curved line, outlining the top of the lower jaw. Double back a third curved line beneath the second, completing the jaw.

3. Draw the dinosaur's neck. Use a curved line, and place a small curved line at the base of it to indicate the far shoulder. Texture the neck with curved lines descending from the jaw.

4. Draw a long curved line to sketch in the back and tail.

5. Draw the forearm. Use curved lines to sketch the shape of the arm. Ring the base of the arm with curved lines. Then, use short curved lines to enclose the fingers and hand. Finally, draw small curved triangles to indicate the claws.

6. Draw a long curved line from the far shoulder, behind the arm, and to the tip of the tail. This outlines the belly and the underside of the tail.

The Tyrannosaurus rex, or T. rex for short, is among the most well known of the dinosaurs. The name Tyrannosaurus rex means "king of the tyrant lizards." T. rex is thought to have been either a predator or a scavenger. Scientists estimate that it lived from 150 to 65 million years ago, from the late Jurassic to the late Cretaceous periods.

Did you know? It is thought that T. rex had a lifespan of about 30 years and weighed as much as 15,000 pounds. Each of T. rex's 50 to 60 teeth were about the size of a banana.
