Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing the Wind

How to Draw a Great Looking Wind for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

How to Draw the Wind Step 01

1. Begin by drawing the ground and the trunk of the tree. Use a series of curved lines to draw the ground or horizon line. Notice how short lines meet at points to give the ground a grassy texture. Then, draw the tree trunk. Use parallel curved lines for the upright portion, and overlapping curved lines for the roots. Note, too, the curve of the trunk - a product of the strong winds.

2. Draw branches and lengthen the trunk of the tree. Use pairs of curved lines for each branch. Draw a small bunch of leaves at the end of one branch, using curved lines to form the uneven shape.

Color Your Wind Drawing

How to Draw the Wind Step 10

Color your windy day. Is the sky blue, or are the clouds stormy? Are the leaves green in spring or brightly colored in autumn? The choice is yours.

What will you draw next? You can add Winnie the Pooh to your drawing to recreate the cartoon in which he sings, "The wind is lashing lustily, and the trees are thrashing trustily, and the leaves are rustling gustily, so it's rather safe to say that it seems that it may turn out to be, feels that it will undoubtedly, looks like a rather blustery day, today!"

"The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind, the answer is blowing in the wind."
- "Blowin' in the Wind" by Bob Dylan.

Would you like to learn how to draw the wind? You may wonder, how can you draw something that you cannot see? We can't see the air or the wind, it is true, but we can see what it does.

A tornado is one example of this. Tornados are dark spirals of wind, and they can cause a lot of damage. Their dark color is due to the dust, debris, and other things the strong winds pick up.
