Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Chainsaw
How to Draw a Great Looking Chainsaw for Kids and Beginners - Step 1
1. Begin the chainsaw outline by drawing an irregular shape. Use a long curved line to form an irregular heptagon, with most of the corners rounded.
Use a shorter line to enclose a shape on one side. This is the body of the chainsaw, which encases the engine.
Drawing Step 2
2. Enclose a small triangle at the bottom. At the top, use a curved line, doubled back on itself several times, to draw the handle. Erase as necessary. Enclose a small, rounded rectangle inside this shape.

Drawing Step 3
3. Draw a pair of curved, parallel lines crossing the body of the chainsaw. At the top, double it back on itself. Then, use another pair of lines to enclose a rounded trapezoid outline at the bottom.
Drawing Step 4
4. Detail the chainsaw body with a series of curved and straight lines. Then, curved triangles inside and outside the trapezoid. These are the triggers used to operate the saw.
Drawing Step 5
5. Extend a long curved line and double it back on itself to outline the saw blade. On the chainsaw body, draw a circle with a rectangle inside it. Near the back, draw two rectangles, one curved and with a line crossing it. This is the pull cord. Draw a straight line behind it.
Drawing Step 6
6. Draw small peanut shapes all around the blade outline, then erase the original line. Draw two small circles inside each peanut shape. This is the chain that gives this saw its name.
Drawing Step 7
7. Finish drawing the small circles inside the links of the chain. Then, use short lines to create the rectangular teeth of the chain on the outside. Connect the pieces with short lines on the inside.

Learn More About The Chainsaw Drawing
Ready to get to work? This easy, step-by-step chainsaw drawing tutorial can give you the skills you need.
Chainsaws are power tools in which a toothed chain moves quickly around a bar. They made cutting wood faster than hand tools like the saw in this hammer and saw drawing.
If your cartoon characters are going to use a chainsaw, they need the right gear to keep them safe. To protect their legs, they'll wear chaps like the ones in this cowboy drawing. You'll also need a hard hat like Rubble is wearing in this Paw Patrol drawing.
Remember to use your saw wisely. Otherwise, the results can resemble this deforestation drawing.
