How to Draw a Tower Crane

1. Begin the tower crane outline by drawing a flat rectangle at the bottom of the page. On top of that, use straight lines to enclose an irregular hexagon (a shape with six sides).

Above that, draw a rectangle. Use straight lines to draw the outer structure of the crane parallel to these shapes.

2. Draw a series of overlapping shapes at the top - an irregular pentagon partially covering two rectangles. Then draw a rectangle and a trapezoid inside it. Draw a horizontal line across the top.

3. Draw a wide trapezoid with a smaller one inside it on top of the line. Then, enclose three rectangles on the end and two more on top of the line.

4. Draw pairs of horizontal lines across the two lower portions of the crane. Draw them diagonally in a zigzag pattern along the arm. On top, draw an "A" shape, then draw another pair of lines across the center.

5. Draw thick "X" shapes within each rectangle created on the side of the crane in the last step.

6. Draw "X" shapes within the "A" shape. Band two rectangles with vertical lines. Then, draw a trapezoid below the arm. Extend straight, parallel lines below it, with small semi-circles on each side.

7. Use curved lines to draw the tackle and hook. Draw horizontal lines across it. Below it, draw a large rectangle.

8. Band the rectangle with horizontal lines. Draw two small half-circles on top of it. From these, draw straight lines to the hook. Draw similar lines at the base and top of the crane. Draw a railing on the back of the arm using horizontal and vertical lines.

9. Draw horizontal lines across the tackle above the hook. Use a long curved line to draw the terrain around the crane. Use vertical and horizontal lines to outline the silhouette of a city in the background.

Your tower crane outline is now complete. Color your crane. Heavy equipment is often painted bright colors like yellow or red to make it visible.
