Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Rag Doll

How to Draw a Great Looking Rag Doll for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the rag doll outline by drawing its button eyes. Draw two circles, and shade two small circles inside each. These are the buttonholes.
Connect them with two lines, indicating the thread holding the buttons on. Use long curved lines for the sides of the doll’s face, and a short one for its smiling mouth.
Drawing Step 2

2. Draw a series of connected, “U” shaped lines across the doll’s forehead. Extend a long curved line from each side, allowing the lines to meet above.

Drawing Step 3

3. Use a curved line to enclose a partial oval on each side of the head. These are the doll’s hair ties.
Extend two curved lines above each, doubling them back to form the rectangular ends of the ribbons. Extend two curved lines from one of the hair ties, forming the ponytail.
Drawing Step 4

4. Extend two long lines from the remaining hair tie. Connect the ends of each pair of lines with a series of connected “U” shaped lines.
Drawing Step 5

5. Draw a “V” shaped line under the head and connect it to the sides of the face with curved lines.
Use a series of overlapping curved lines to sketch the doll’s sleeves and torso. From each sleeve, extend a long curved line and double it back on itself to form the arm.
Drawing Step 6

6. Use a series of connected, curved lines to form the scalloped bottom of the doll’s dress. Enclose two half-oval shapes below the skirt to form the legs.
Drawing Step 7

7. Texture the doll’s hair with long curved lines. Band each leg with a curved line and draw a semicircle under each. This indicates the doll’s shoes.
