3. Use more overlapping curved lines to sketch the top of the head. Continue the line of the mouth to form the upper jaw. Then shade two small ovals at the front of the snout to indicate the nostrils.

4. Draw the venomous fangs descending from the front of the mouth. Use curved lines to draw two curved, sharply pointed triangles.

Then, extend a curved line from the middle of the mouth. It should pass behind one fang before doubling back upon itself to meet the edge of the jaw. This is the bottom of the snake’s mouth.

5. Outline the lower jaw using overlapping curved lines. Indicate the skin at the corners of the mouth by drawing short curved lines between the upper and lower jaws.

6. Extend long curved lines from the back of the head, lower jaw, and open space near the back of the head. This outlines the snake’s back, belly, and the division between them.

Do you like snakes, or do you find them scary? Do not fear, you can learn to craft this snake face and head drawing.

Snakes are amazing animals that have fascinated us for millennia. There are about 3,000 different kinds of snakes in the world, but only about 600 of them have venomous fangs like the one in our drawing.

Besides its fangs, what else do you notice about our snake sketch? It has a forked tongue that flicks out of its mouth in different directions. It uses its tongue to "smell" its surroundings, looking for signs of food or danger.
