Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing Popeye
How to Draw a Great Looking Popeye for Kids and Beginners - Step 1
1. Begin the Popeye outline by drawing the character's face. Use long curved lines for the mouth and bulbous nose, and shorter ones for the squinting eye and eyebrows. Shade a small oval to indicate the open eye.
Drawing Step 2
2. Use a series of overlapping curved lines to draw his deeply dimpled chin and ear. Then, draw the open mouth and the tongue inside. Contour above and below the mouth with curved lines.

Drawing Step 3
3. Extend a curved line from the chin and double it back on itself to form the stem of Popeye's pipe. Draw the sides of his head, the brim and bill of his cap, its round button, and its double crown.
Drawing Step 4
4. Draw a rounded rectangle at the end of the pipe stem and draw a "C" shaped line along one end. This is the bowl of the pipe. Use short lines to contour inside the ear, and overlapping curved lines for the neck, shoulders, sleeve, and front of the torso.
Drawing Step 5
5. Draw Popeye's massive, muscular arm. Use overlapping curved lines for the biceps muscle, the knobby elbow, the forearm, and the fist.
Drawing Step 6
6. Finish the fingers, detail the palm, and contour below the biceps muscle. Then, draw a small oval on the chest. Use curved lines to draw the collars of the sailor suit as well as the remaining sleeve.
Drawing Step 7
7. Draw two more oval-shaped buttons on the front of the torso. Use curved lines to draw the tucked-in shirt, belt, and buckle, as well as the remaining arm.
