3. Next, begin Holmes' iconic hat. Draw a long curved line at an angle above the face. Extend another line from its tip. Double it back on itself to form the bill of the hat; it should also adjoin the front of the face.
Then, finish outlining the face. Use long curved lines to sketch the ear and sideburns, and a series of short curved lines to form the bushy eyebrow.
Drawing Step 4

4. Contour inside the ear with a curved line. Then, extend a curved line from the back of the hat and double it back on itself to form another cloth flap.
Use two curved lines that meet at an inward-facing point on top to enclose the top of the hat.
Drawing Step 5

5. Use a series of connected, curved lines to enclose the hair at the back of Holmes' head.
Extend curved lines from the hair and chin to form the neck, and connect them with a long curved line that also forms the collar of his shirt.
Contour inside the ear, beside the nose, and the neck with curved lines.
Drawing Step 6

6. Use long, overlapping curved lines to finish the shirt collar and to draw the necktie and the lapel of Holmes' famous overcoat.
Drawing Step 7

7. Use long curved lines to enclose the collar and shoulder of the coat. Then, extend a long curved line from Holmes' mouth and double it back on itself to outline his pipe.
