Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing the Parts of a Flower

How to Draw a Great Looking Parts of a Flower for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the parts of a flower outline by drawing two curved lines that double back on themselves many times. Continue each line so that the bottom and top are joined by a curved line.
The result should be an incomplete oval with a pine tree-like pattern in the middle. This is a cross-section of the ovule at the very center of the flower.
Drawing Step 2

2. Enclose an oval or egg shape around the ovule. Extend two curved lines, one from each side of the oval, to enclose another partial oval shape around it.

3. Use a long curved line to draw an incomplete teardrop shape around the ovule. From the incomplete oval, extend vertical lines to meet the tops of the teardrop. This continues the pistil at the center of the flower.
Drawing Step 4

4. Use a curved line to enclose a rounded shape under the ovule. Then, extend two curved lines below it, forming the stem.
Drawing Step 5

5. Extend curved lines from each side of the ovule. From the top of the stem, extend "y" shaped lines to meet the curved lines, enclosing the leaflike sepals.
Drawing Step 6

6. Extend four pairs of curved lines from the pistil. These are the filaments.
At the top of each, use a curved line to enclose a heart like shape. These are the anthers. Together with the filaments, they form the stamens.
Drawing Step 7

7. Use long curved lines to enclose two rounded shapes behind the pistil and stamens. These are the flower's petals.

9. Label the parts of the flower. Start with the ovule and move clockwise to identify the ovary, style, stigma, anther, filament, petal, sepal, and receptacle. Draw straight lines from each word to the part it describes.
Then use straight lines to draw a bracket around the words "Stigma," "Style," and "Ovary," and label these as parts of the pistil. Do the same for the anther and filament, labeling them as the stamen.
Color Your Parts of a Flower Drawing

Your parts of a flower outline is now complete. Color your diagram. Make the petals colorful to help distinguish them from the rest of the plant. Use green for the stem and sepals.
