Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Basket
How to Draw a Great Looking Basket for Kids and Beginners - Step 1
1. Begin the basket outline by drawing two curved lines. They should meet to form an irregular semicircle with the "tails" of the top line extending beyond the ends.
Drawing Step 2
2. Draw a curved trapezoid at the end of each line. Band them with three lines each. These are the bases of the handle. Connect them with a long curved line, and draw another line, loosely spiral-shaped, connected to one but not the other.

Drawing Step 3
3. Draw a bow with a forked ribbon on the handle, erasing as necessary. Complete the basket handle using overlapping curved lines.
Drawing Step 4
4. Use curved and "V" shaped lines to draw the remaining ribbon, and contour the bow with short lines.
Then, draw an apple inside the basket. Use a short curved line and a longer line, doubled back on itself, for the apple's stem. Enclose the round shape of the fruit around it.
Drawing Step 5
5. Draw two more apples. For each, start with the stem, then enclose the shape of the fruit around it. Extend three curved lines from one stem, allowing two of them to meet and enclose a leaf.
Drawing Step 6
6. Band the basket with two curved lines. Draw another apple in the basket. Again, use a short curved line and a longer line, doubled back on itself, for the apple's stem. Enclose the round shape of the fruit around it. Complete the basket with a curved line behind the apples.
Drawing Step 7
7. Draw curved lines in a checkerboard pattern across the bottom of the basket. This gives it a woven texture. Then, draw "Y" shaped lines along the woven rim of the basket.

9. Complete the "Y" pattern, then draw straight, horizontal lines along the handle.
Color Your Basket Drawing
Your basket outline is now complete. Color your drawing. Many baskets are light brown, but they can have darker patterns woven in. Use red, green, or yellow for the apples.

This classic basket is a vessel for holding things. It has a handle, and you can tell from the texture that it is woven from plant material.
The basket is full of apples. It might be perfect for a picnic, like the one in this summer beach drawing.
It is also reminiscent of the basket of poisoned apples carried by the evil queen in Disney's Snow White, disguised as an old woman. You can recreate the scene when you learn how to draw Snow White.
