Color Your Patriotic Hat Drawing
Outline your patriotic hat drawing with a black pen or marker. Use thicker lines for the brim and cylinder and thinner lines for the shapes inside the hat. Once the ink dries, erase the pencil lines.
Shade the outline with crayons, markers, colored pencils, paint, oil pastels or gel pens.
Color the brim red and the top of the hat blue. Leave the stars white as you color the background blue, and alternate red and white for the stripes.
For the shadows, use dark blue, dark red and light gray. Lightly shade with gray so that you don't make the white areas too dark. Add light blue and red for the highlights.

An angled oval makes the top look like a flat surface, while curved stripes create a rounded appearance.
The American flag is instantly recognizable because it has a basic motif: red-and-white stripes and fifty white stars on a blue background.
Some older flags have thirteen stars in a circle. When you're done with this patriotic hat drawing, try designing your own United States flag.
