1. Begin the peas outline by drawing two long, curved lines. Allow the lines to meet at a point at the bottom. This outlines the pea pod or shell the peas grow in.

2. Draw the calyx, or leafy green portion, at the top of the cartoon pea pod. Use a series of curved "V" shaped lines, and extend one line to form the rounded top of the calyx.

3. Finish enclosing the calyx with a curved "V" shaped line. Extend a line from the top of the calyx and double it back on itself, forming the stem. Then, draw a long curved line down the side of the pea pod. This is called the seam or suture.

4. Use overlapping curved lines to draw the circular peas nestled within the pod.

5. Draw a long curved line across the far side of the pea pod, passing behind some of the peas. Draw curved lines to texture the near side of the pod. These bulges are due to the peas growing inside.

6. Use long curved lines to outline the shape of a second pea pod behind the first.

7. Draw the long, curved line of the seam down the side of the second pea pod. Begin drawing its leafy calyx using curved "V" shaped lines.

8. Complete the calyx with another "V" shaped line. Extend a line from it and double it back upon itself to form the stem. Then, draw a circle beside the pods. This is a pea that is out of its shell.
