How to Draw a Great Looking Hollywood Sign for Kids and Beginners - Step 1
1. Begin the Hollywood sign outline by drawing a series of curved lines on a slight diagonal slant. This forms the ridge that the sign is placed on.
Then, use straight lines to outline the first of the bold letters, "H," "O," and "L."

2. Use straight lines to outline the next four bold letters, "L," "Y," "W," and "O." Notice that even the "O" is not round, but is crafted from a series of short, straight lines.

3. Draw the last two bold letters, "O" and "D," using straight lines. Then draw a long, curved line passing behind the letters "HOLL."
This is the peak of Mount Lee, the mountain on which the sign is situated. At the bottom of your picture, draw a series of curved lines to form a boulder.
Then draw a palm tree, an icon of the area. Use two curved lines for the trunk and a series of curved lines for each of the leaves.

4. Continue drawing the jagged leaves of the palm tree. Use a series of connected "U" shaped lines to create each leaf.

5. Texture the trunk of the palm tree with "X" shaped lines, then draw a curved line down the center of each large leaf.
Use two long, curved lines that join to form one line to make the zigzag shape of Lake Hollywood. Use curved lines that meet at jagged points to form a tuft of grass near the boulder.

6. Texture the mountain with long curved lines and series of lines that form bushes and grass. Draw a few small, round shapes in the river.

8. Draw a few trees on the distant mountain using a series of curved lines. Then, draw a narrow triangle with a rectangle alongside it.
Draw ovals on these structures, erasing as necessary. This building and tower is the City of Los Angeles Central Communications Facility.

9. Draw horizontal lines and "X" shapes on the front of the building and tower. Use curved lines to sketch fluffy clouds in the sky.
Draw straight lines descending from each of the letters of the sign, forming the support structure.
