Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Human Eye Diagram

How to Draw a Great Looking Human Eye Diagram for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

Human Eye Diagram step-by-step drawing tutorial: step 1

1. Begin the human eye diagram outline by sketching the basic shape. Use curved lines and one straight line.

The basis of the shape is a circle, with a partial circle bulge on one side and a rectangular shape on the other. These will become the cornea and the optic nerve.

2. Draw a curved line parallel to the inside of the diagram. This outlines the sclera, or the white outer portion of the eye.

Then draw another line parallel to the top of the diagram. Enclose a dripping pattern before attaching the line to the cornea.

This area is called the ciliary body, where muscles and other tissue connect to the iris. Between the two parallel lines is the retina, a layer of cells that capture light.

3. Use a long curved line to enclose the retina and the ciliary body on the bottom of the eye.

Shade an oval between the ciliary bodies to indicate the pupil, the opening through which light passes. From the ends of the retina, extend lines parallel to the outside of the optic nerve.

4. Draw another oval behind the pupil and attach it to the ciliary bodies. This is the lens. Enclose another partial circle in front of the pupil. This creates the iris and the anterior chamber.

It is filled with a liquid called aqueous humor that helps the eye keep its shape. Enclose a large circle in the middle of the diagram. This separates the choroid from the vitreous, the gel-like center of the eye.

5. Detail the iris with curved lines. Then enclose a curved triangle attached to the top and bottom of the eye. Contour these with curved lines. They are the rectus medialis, muscles that move the eye.

6. Draw zigzag lines in front of each of the muscles. This represents the skin surrounding the eye. Extend curved lines from the outer portion of each zigzag, indicating the eyelids and lashes.

7. Draw a curved line parallel to each zigzag. This is the conjunctiva, a mucous membrane that protects the eye.

Draw two curved lines spiraling around each other in the nerve. These are blood vessels, an artery and a vein, that nourish the eye. From then, extend a web of branching vessels.
