How to Draw a Mayan Temple

1. Draw a straight vertical line, then add two diagonal lines pointing upward. Sketch three rectangles behind this shape. The top rectangle should be the narrowest.

2. Sketch six more rectangles behind the front of the temple, then draw two diagonal lines inside the center shape. Add a shorter rectangle with a thin rectangle on top.

3. Add two more rectangles to the top of the Mayan temple. Sketch horizontal lines across the steps. Draw six rectangles each on the bottom two rows.

4. Outline more rectangles on the rest of the steps. On the top level, add three small rectangles and two vertical lines.

5. Sketch four vertical lines inside this shape, then add two short horizontal lines. Draw a long L-shape on each side of the temple.

In the middle, draw horizontal rectangles that become increasingly narrow as they reach the top. Add three wavy lines like the edge of a puddle in front of the temple.

6. Sketch two uneven ovals. On the left, draw a backwards L-shape and a vertical line, then surround them with an uneven line to form a box. Add a loose, sketchy line on the bottom.

7. Draw a line and rectangle inside the shape you just outlined.

Add two curved lines with small triangles at the bottom on either side of the temple. On the left, sketch the tree leaves with rounded, uneven triangles.

8. Repeat the previous step for the other tree, then draw another tree behind it. Outline the horizon with a straight line.

9. Use loops to decorate the background with clouds and shrubs. The clouds should have flat bottoms. Outline your Mayan temple with black ink.

To make your illustration look like real Aztec temples, color the building and the path with different shades of light brown.

Use brown for the tree trunks and green for the grass, leaves and shrubs. Color the sky light blue.
