How to Draw a Great Looking The U.S. Capitol Building for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the U.S. Capitol Building outline by drawing parts of three levels. First, draw narrow vertical rectangles, and connect them with narrow horizontal rectangles.
Draw another horizontal rectangle on top and connect the shapes at the bottom using straight and curved lines.

2. Draw the staircases on either side of previous shapes. Start with stacks of parallelograms, and use straight lines to sketch basically parallel handrails. Enclose a cube and a partial rectangle on each end.

3. Draw "U" shaped lines to create arches on the lowest levels. Then, draw a series of vertical rectangles above the uppermost rectangle.
Draw two narrow horizontal rectangles on top of them. Band the vertical rectangles with vertical lines.

4. Draw a series of squares and rectangles of different sizes on each side of the structure.

5. Draw a rectangle on each side of the building. Connect its corner to the nearest square with a straight line. Detail the structure with straight horizontal and vertical lines.
Then, draw a triangle-shaped roof on top of each end. Use straight lines to draw the rest of the roof, a triangular prism.

6. Draw "U" shaped arches on each end of the building. Use horizontal lines to detail the front of the building. Draw two small rectangles near the center of the building.
Enclose rounded roofs over them as well as the center of the building. From the small squares, extend straight, vertical lines. Enclose a rectangular flag on each pole.

7. Draw squares and narrow vertical rectangles to create windows on the front of the building.
