How to Draw a Volleyball Net

1. Begin the volleyball net outline by drawing the posts. For each post, use two straight, vertical lines.

Connect them with short curved lines at the top and bottom. Notice that one pole is longer than the other - this gives the impression of depth and perspective. Learn more about perspective drawings.

2. Draw a rectangle between them, but not touching them. Notice how one vertical line is a bit shorter than the other, just like the posts. Then, draw lines along the top and bottom of the rectangle.

3. Draw a circle at each corner of the rectangle, and shade a smaller circle within it. These are the rivets, reinforced holes used to tie the net to the posts.

Draw curved lines around one pole, erasing as necessary, to begin sketching these ropes.

4. Band the posts with curved lines at the remaining corners of the net. Then, draw pairs of straight lines from the posts to the rivets.

5. Continue drawing pairs of lines to connect the net and the poles. Then, begin drawing the webbing of the net. Draw long, zigzag lines horizontally across it.

6. Continue drawing long, zigzag lines horizontally across the net.

7. Finish drawing the horizontal lines. Then, draw vertical lines that connect the zigzag points of the horizontal lines. The result should be small diamond shapes that form a crooked checkerboard pattern.

8. Finish drawing the vertical lines of the net. Then, draw a volleyball. Start by drawing a circle.

9. Draw curved lines in an interlocking pattern across the surface of the ball.

Your volleyball net outline is now complete. Color your drawing. Both nets and balls can be muted colors, like white, or very bright colors.
