Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing Achilles

How to Draw a Great Looking Achilles for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

Achilles step-by-step drawing tutorial: step 1

1. Begin the Achilles outline by drawing his helmet. Use curved lines to sketch the basic bell shape of the Spartan helmet drawing.

Shade a "Y" shaped split in the front of the helmet. Use curved lines to enclose the curved triangular shape at the base of the plum and use long curved lines that meet at points to draw the plume itself.

Draw lines on the front of the plume and base to give them a three-dimensional appearance.

2. Draw the soldier's armor. Enclose partial ovals below the helmet to hold the cape. Then use curved lines to draw the cape, breastplate, sleeve, and arm.

5. Enclose the torso, and draw five long, narrow pentagons extending from it. These metal pieces were called baltea and protected the upper legs.

8. Use long, overlapping curved lines to enclose the shape of Achilles' cape. Then draw arrows protruding from the shield and from the man's heel.

For each arrow, use a pair of straight, parallel lines for the shaft and parallelograms for the fletching.

Below Achilles' leg, draw a round shape with two lines protruding from it. This is the pommel and handle of his sword.

Learn More About The Achilles Drawing

Drawing skills don't have to be your Achilles' heel. You can learn how to draw Achilles with the aid of this simple, step-by-step mythology drawing tutorial.

According to ancient Greek myths, Achilles was the son of a human king and a sea nymph or minor goddess. He was a mighty warrior in the Trojan War.

Why has this hero been struck by an arrow in this picture? The story says that when Achilles was a baby, his mother dipped him into one of the rivers of the underworld.

This made him invulnerable to attack. But she held him by the heel, which did not get wet - or become invulnerable.

Achilles eventually died in battle when he is shot in the heel, his only weakness. This is depicted in our drawing.
