3. Draw an irregular trapezoid at the front of the train. This is called the cowcatcher. Above the front of the train, enclose an irregular heptagon. This is the smoke stack.
Drawing Step 4

4. Draw horizontal lines across the cab and smokestack. Then, enclose half-circle shapes on top of and on the front of the engine. Then, enclose a partial oval at the tip of each.
Drawing Step 5

5. Draw a square window on the cab and another rectangle on the engine. Draw vertical lines across the rectangle and the engine behind it.
Drawing Step 6

6. Next, draw the coupling rods. Draw small circles on the large wheels and on the engine. Connect them with pairs of straight lines. Then draw two more smaller oval-shaped wheels behind the steam engine.
Drawing Step 7

7. Draw a small circle inside each wheel.
Use straight lines to draw the base of the train car, its walls, the top and bottom of its roof, and to connect it to the engine. Use curved lines to connect the top and bottom of the roof.
