How to Draw an Easy Tree Stump

1. Draw a large, oblong oval near the top of the page with two bumps on the left. Add a vertical line on either side of this shape.

2. Sketch two more vertical lines, making the right line trail off at the bottom, then draw two hills on the left. Make the top hill much smaller than the bottom one.

3. Outline the grass on the left with loose, sketchy triangles. On the right, draw another hill, a curve and a wavy line that trails downward.

4. Draw a line of grass across the bottom of the trunk. Make the blades look spiky and uneven.

5. Sketch a curved line on either side of the trunk, then draw another line of grass on the right.

6. Add grass on the left. Sketch a vertical line inside the trunk, and draw two curves.

7. Draw another vertical line inside the trunk. On the left, sketch two lines and enclose one with a football shape to make a leaf. To the right, draw a loose heart shape with a pointy top.

8. Add another leaf with a wide teardrop shape. Sketch an oval in the center of the stump, then surround it with two more ovals. Make them uneven with spaces between the lines like water ripples.

9. Draw another loose oval on the surface of the stump. Next, draw six diagonal lines that radiate outward from the center.

Outline your easy tree stump drawing with a black pen or marker. Use thin lines for the surface of the tree stump and thick lines for everything else. Afterward, erase the pencil sketch.

Color the trunk with multiple shades of reddish-brown to capture the shadows and highlights. Use tan for the stump, then color the grass and leaves with various green hues.
