How to Draw a Great Looking Iris Flower for Kids and Beginners - Step 1
1. Begin the iris outline by enclosing the first of the large petals with a wavy line. Then, enclose a small semi-circle on top of it.

2. Enclose another round shape on the side of the petal using a short curved line. Just above it, extend a longer curved line.
Draw a wavy line from the side of the petal to meet it, thus enclosing a second petal. Then, use a curved line to enclose a teardrop shape on top of it.

3. Draw another petal on the opposite side. Use a series of overlapping curved lines. Note how one goes right down the center.

4. Extend two wavy curved lines upward, allowing them to meet at a point, enclosing the upright petal.

5. Draw another upright petal to the side of the first. Extend a curved line and a wavy line, allowing them to meet. Then, draw another wavy line down the center of the petal.

6. Draw two wavy curved lines, allowing them to meet at a point. This forms another upright petal. Then, extend two slightly curved lines to form the stem.

7. Enclose a rounded rectangle shape at the base of the stem. Extend a pair of curved lines from its top, and another from its bottom. Allow each set to meet at a sharp point. These are the iris’s leaves.

8. Draw a long, narrow “U” shaped line above the leaf. From it, extend two curved lines and allow them to meet at a point.
Stack three more sets of such pairs of pointed lines on top of it. This forms an unopened flower bud.
