How to Draw a Great Looking Buddy the Elf for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin your Buddy the Elf outline by drawing his face. Use curved lines for the eyebrows, nose, and mouth, and to enclose the almond-shaped eyes. Shade a round pupil inside each eye.

2. Use a series of connected, curved lines to draw Buddy's ears, chin, and the scalloped texture of the hair around his forehead. Contour the chin with a short curved line.

3. Use a series of connected, scalloped lines to finish enclosing Buddy's hair. Draw a triangle on top of his head to form his hat.
Band the hat with two curved lines, then enclose a curved triangle shape alongside it. Contour inside the ears with curved lines.

4. Use two curved lines to enclose the slightly pointed shape of Buddy's neck.
Then, use "U" shaped lines to enclose the wide collar of his shirt. Use overlapping curved lines to begin sketching his shoulders and his upraised arm.

5. Use curved lines to enclose the curved rectangle shape of Buddy's cuff and to begin sketching his hand.

6. Use curved lines to complete Buddy's waving hand. Then, use a series of overlapping curved lines to sketch Buddy's remaining sleeve, its cuff, and the side of the hand.

7. Draw the connected, curved rectangles that make up Buddy's belt. Connect the belt to the shoulders and collar using long curved lines. Use a wavy curved line to complete his hand on his hip.

8. Draw a smaller square inside the belt buckle. Then, use curved lines, doubled back on themselves, to enclose the tails of his coat.
From each tail, extend a pair of curved lines to outline Buddy's legs. Connect the lines at the bottom with shorter lines.
