Drawing Step 4

4. Sketch a curve inside the cylinder you just drew, then draw an explosion with loose, sketchy triangles. Add two long teardrop shapes to the right. Afterward, sketch two triangles behind the letter B.
Drawing Step 5

5. Draw more triangles in varying sizes behind the bomb and letters to create a starburst.
Drawing Step 6

6. Sketch a smaller starburst with pointy triangles inside the shape that you just outlined.
Drawing Step 7

7. Start drawing hills in various sizes around the starburst like you're sketching a fluffy cloud.

9. Add three more curved triangles on the right. In the background, draw several straight lines that touch the top and bottom of the page.
Make sure the lines are visible in the gap between the smoke and starburst.
Color Your Pop Art Drawing

Finally, outline your pop art drawing with black ink, filling in the shadows behind the letters. Wait for the ink to dry, then erase the pencil lines.
Color the background of your pop art illustration with green, blue and yellow stripes. Make the bomb dark grey, then color the explosions with orange and yellow. Leave the letters and smoke white.

Outlined letters are the centerpiece of this illustration. If you have trouble drawing the outlines, write the letters normally, then sketch shapes around them. You can always erase the extra lines later.
The background of this piece has a dotted texture that makes it look like a comic book panel.
You can outline the dots before you color, paint them over the background or scan your pop art drawing and add them digitally.
