Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing the London Eye

How to Draw a Great Looking London Eye for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the London Eye outline by drawing the Ferris wheel's basic shape. Use curved lines to draw an oval inside an oval, noting the overlapping lines at the top and bottom.
Draw a small oval at its center, followed by a rectangle and a rounded triangle. From this, extend a pair of long, curved lines that pass behind the wheel. Connect them with a curved line at the end.
Drawing Step 2

2. Draw two more straight lines from the hub at the center to the edge of the oval. Use straight lines to enclose a three-dimensional, rectangular support at the base of the first pair of lines.
Then, below the wheel, enclose several irregular shapes, erasing as necessary. Band two of them with a short line.

Drawing Step 3

3. Draw a small circle within the small oval. From the oval, extend straight lines in a starburst pattern.
These are the support cables that look like spokes. Detail the remaining bottom support, then draw a cube underneath. Band the cube with vertical and horizontal lines.
Drawing Step 4

4. Draw the oval-shaped observation pods on the near side of the wheel, erasing as necessary.
Draw another cube below the wheel, and band it with vertical and horizontal lines. Draw more lines within the first cube to make it appear hollow.
Drawing Step 5

5. Draw partial ovals on the far side of the wheel. Draw a straight line across each pod.
For the near pods, draw a small rectangle above it, detailing the windows. Draw a horizontal line on the wheel between the pods.
Drawing Step 6

6. Continue drawing the horizontal lines on the far side of the wheel. Then, draw two long, curved lines beneath it, indicating the waterfront.
Beside the wheel, draw two rectangles and a trapezoid to form a building. On the roof, draw chimneys - rectangles with an extra line at one corner.
Drawing Step 7

7. Contour the chimneys with vertical lines. Draw square windows and an arch-shaped door on the building's side.
Then, draw another building. Stack two rectangular prisms, then use two straight lines to enclose a triangle on top.

9. Draw straight lines across the boat's windows, and detail the river with curved lines. Use a series of jagged, straight lines to outline the city skyline in the distance. Draw a fluffy cloud in the sky above.
Color Your London Eye Drawing

Your London Eye outline is now complete. Color your scene. The Ferris wheel is made from gray metal, but lights are often used to "paint" the Eye in different colors.
