Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing the Great Wall of China

How to Draw a Great Looking Great Wall of China for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the Great Wall of China outline by drawing a castle-like shape. Use straight lines to enclose a rectangular shape with smaller rectangles on its top.
Then, draw two sets of three curved lines coming from the shape. Connect each set of lines with straight lines.
These form a path or road along the Great Wall with fortified walls on each side. Finally, draw a straight line alongside the castle shape.
Drawing Step 2

2. Draw a three-dimensional house shape on top of the castle tower. Use curved lines for the walls and sides of the roof, then connect them with straight lines.
At the bottom of the tower, use a series of connected curved lines to enclose a bush or tree.

Drawing Step 3

3. Use straight lines to make the rectangles at the top of the tower cubelike and three-dimensional. Do the same along the wall, erasing as necessary.
Drawing Step 4

4. Shade thick "L" shaped lines along the wall to indicate more cubelike sections. Band the tower with straight lines and draw arch-shaped windows and doors on its sides.
Drawing Step 5

5. Continue to draw the wall in the distance. Draw three curved lines to indicate the pathway and the walls on each side. At the base of the wall, use curved lines to draw the underbrush.
Then, use straight lines to enclose the trapezoidal shape of another tower. Notice the slits on its top wall.
Drawing Step 6

6. Use straight lines to turn the tower into a three-dimensional rectangular prism. Draw arch-shaped windows and doors on its side. Texture and detail the tops of the wall with long and short curved lines.
Drawing Step 7

7. Extend three long, curved lines from the tower, continuing the wall in the distance. Note how two of the lines converge.
Band the top of the tower with a straight line and draw arch-shaped windows on its side. Use curved lines to draw shrubbery at its base and a mountain or hillside in the distance.
