How to Draw Woody Woodpecker

1. Begin the Woody Woodpecker outline by drawing his eyes. Use curved lines for the cheeks, the oval-shaped eyes, the irises inside, and the eyebrows. Shade a small oval pupil within each eye.

2. Use long curved lines to draw Woody's beak. Notice the dimple at the edge of the mouth and the overlap of lines at the tip that gives the beak a three-dimensional appearance.

3. Use curved lines to finish the beak. Draw a heart-shaped tongue inside it. Extend curved lines from the side of the beak and brow to begin the rest of the head.

4. Use a series of long and short lines that meet at jagged points to draw the swept-back feathers on the back of the head.

Extend two lines below the head to form the neck. Draw a donut-shape around the base of the neck, noting the jagged points that lend the texture of feathers.

5. Use long curved lines to begin the torso and to draw the arm, wrist, and open hand.

6. Contour the palm of the hand with curved lines. Then draw the other arm, wrist, and hand. This arm is bent at the elbow with the hand on the hip.

7. Complete the hand and torso. Draw a long curved line across the chest and belly, indicating a lighter coloration.

8. Use overlapping curved lines to draw the legs and two-toed feet.

9. Draw the final foot. Band the legs with curved lines above the feet. Draw the tail feathers by extending two lines and doubling them back on themselves.
