Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing Yellowstone

How to Draw a Great Looking Yellowstone for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the Yellowstone outline by drawing the geyser. First, draw two curved lines tilted inward at the bottom. This is the water from the geyser.
Draw curved lines around the base, forming a loose trapezoid. This is the geyser itself.
Drawing Step 2

2. Draw long and short curved lines that overlap and connect to finish enclosing the water. Draw an elongated teardrop emerging beside the main blast.

3. Use "U" shaped lines to contour the water and curved lines to texture the geyser and the ground around it. Then, draw an "L" shaped line to begin the bough of a pine tree.
Drawing Step 4

4. Continue drawing the pine tree using a series of "V" shaped lines. Contour its branches with "U" shaped lines. Then, draw two parallel long, wavy lines across the horizon.
Drawing Step 5

5. Use a series of curved lines to enclose the oval shape of a hydrothermal pool. Use a series of curved lines - some "U" shaped and some with jagged points - to texture the ground around it.
Drawing Step 6

6. Draw another layer of contours around the pool using curved lines. Then, draw two series of curved lines on the horizon, overlapping one another. This forms a rock outcropping and a waterfall.
Drawing Step 7

7. Enclose another rock outcropping on the other side of the waterfall. Then, contour the rocks and water with curved lines. This could be Tower Falls or Upper Falls.
Then, use curved lines that meet at jagged points to begin drawing a treeline of evergreens in the distance.

8. Continue the treeline, using curved lines that meet at jagged points. Use "V" shaped lines to draw two mountains in the distance, and curved lines to enclose a fluffy cloud.

9. Use curved lines to enclose another cloud over the waterfall, to texture the ground, and to enclose a few stones at the base of the geyser.
