Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Fireball

How to Draw a Great Looking Fireball for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the fireball outline by drawing a large “C” shaped line. At its ends, draw short lines that meet it at sharp points. This forms the leading edge of the fireball.
Drawing Step 2

2. From each side of the object, extend curved lines. Connect more short curved lines to them, allowing the lines to meet in jagged points. Continue to draw sets of pointed lines.

Drawing Step 3

3. Continue to draw curved lines of different lengths that are connected at sharp points. Fully enclose the fireball. It should be shaped like an elongated flame.
Drawing Step 4

4. Begin drawing another flame-like shape inside the outline. Use curved lines that meet at jagged points. The shape should be roughly parallel to the outer lines.
Drawing Step 5

5. Continue drawing the inner portion of the fireball. Use curved lines that meet at jagged points, roughly parallel to the outline.
Drawing Step 6

6. Use curved lines to complete the inner shape, another elongated flame. Then begin drawing a third shape inside it. Like the original outline, draw a “C” shaped line with shorter lines meeting its ends.
Drawing Step 7

7. Complete the small flame outline inside the other two. Again, use curved lines of various lengths that meet at jagged points.

9. Draw more small, double-pointed whisps of flame inside the shape of the fireball and beside it. For each wisp, use two or three curved lines that meet at points.
Color Your Fireball Drawing

Your fireball outline is now complete. Color your drawing. In our example, we used orange, yellow, and white - the brighter colors indicating the greater heat towards the core of the falling object.
Red is another common flame color, and objects such as meteors sometimes appear green or blue.

Most are small like this shooting star drawing, but some are huge. For example, in 1908, the Tunguska fireball felled an entire forest in Russia.
