Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Tarsier
How to Draw a Great Looking Tarsier for Kids and Beginners - Step 1
1. Begin the cartoon tarsier outline by drawing its huge eyes. Use two lines for each nearly circular shape, noting how the lines don't quite meet in the corners.
Shade a small, round pupil in the center of each eye. Then, use curved lines to draw the sides of the nose, the nostrils, and the mouth.

2. Next, use overlapping curved lines to draw the ears, and a series of lines that meet at jagged points for the furry sides of the face. Contour around the eyes with curved lines.

Use long curved lines that double back on themselves to create the fingers, noting the round fingertips and sharply angled joints.

5. Complete the hand, drawing two more fingers. Contour the knuckles and fingertips with curved lines. Then, draw the rear leg, using a series of long and short lines that meet at jagged points.

6. Use curved lines that meet at jagged points to trace the furry bottom of the leg.
Then, draw the foot. Use a long, curved line for the bottom of the foot and for each of the toes. Like the fingers, the toes have bulbous tips and knuckles.

7. Finish the foot by drawing two more toes. Draw "U" shaped lines at the tips of the first two toes, and teardrop-shaped claws on the last two.
Then, draw a tree branch for the primate to cling to using long, curved lines.

Tarsiers are small primates that move by leaping, but they are not monkeys. They're also not lemurs. You can compare all three when you check out this monkey drawing and this ring-tailed lemur drawing.

Did you know? Tarsiers are named for another weird feature - they have a very long ankle or tarsal bone. Can you see the elongated shape of the foot?
How big should you make your tarsier drawing? The real animals are only 3.5 to 6 inches long, excluding the tail. You can make them life-sized on almost any sheet of paper.
