How to Draw a Great Looking Zinnia for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

2. Draw four uneven ovals in front of the hills, then sketch loose ovals and hills around the cluster that you drew in step one. Don't worry about making them perfect--petals are always a little uneven.

4. Draw more loops around the petals, making them wider in the front and smaller in the back. The idea is to create a cluster like you're learning how to draw a hydrangea flower.
Easy Zinnia Drawing - Step 5
5. Add more petals around the loops that you've already drawn, making them increasingly large. The front petals should point downward in an umbrella-like shape.

6. Keep adding petals to your zinnia drawing. Sketch one layer on the front and two layers on the back and right side.
Easy Zinnia Drawing - Step 7
7. Outline the zinnia with a final set of petals in front and a curved line across the back like a wave lapping against a beach. Sketch the stem with two vertical lines.
Add More Details to Your Zinnia Picture - Step 8
8. Use wide, sweeping teardrop shapes for the leaves, making the leaves on the right overlap the stem. Sketch three curved lines inside the bottom leaf for added realism.

9. Draw a fourth line inside the bottom leaf, then add three or four lines to the other two leaves. Sketch lines inside several petals but not all of them.
Color Your Zinnia Drawing
Congratulations! It's time to outline your easy zinnia drawing with a black pen or marker. Use thinner lines for the cluster in the center.
Make a gradient by coloring the cluster with yellow, the smaller petals with orange and the rest of the flower with deep pink.
Color the leaves and stem green with darker and lighter shades for the shadows and highlights.
