Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing an Easy Ship

How to Draw a Great Looking Easy Ship for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the easy ship outline by drawing the water. Use a wavy line to sketch the waves.
Then, extend two curved lines upward—one longer than the other. Connect them with a curved line, noticing its contours.
Drawing Step 2

2. On top of the hull, enclose three successively smaller rounded rectangles. This includes the cabin area and the bridge.

Drawing Step 3

3. Draw rectangles within the two upper decks. Then, enclose several loosely rectangular shapes.
These are the funnels or smokestacks and the “monkey island.” This is the highest point on the ship, also called the flying bridge, upper bridge, or pilothouse.
Drawing Step 4

4. Draw more rectangles on the sides of the various decks. Draw a line across the top of each funnel, and a curved line parallel to the top of the hull.
Drawing Step 5

5. Draw vertical lines through the rectangles, separating them into windows. On the side of the hull, draw several circles inside circles. These are porthole windows.
Drawing Step 6

6. Sketch an anchor drawing on the side of the boat. First, draw a circle within a circle.
Then, use curved lines to sketch the curved “T” shape of the anchor, with an oval on one end and arrowlike points on the others.
Drawing Step 7

7. Give the cruise ship a scenic background.
Draw a straight horizon line, then use jagged curved lines to create mountains in the distance. Finally, use a series of connected, curved lines to draw a cloud.
