How to Draw a Great Looking Okapi for Kids and Beginners - Step 1
1. Begin the cartoon okapi outline by drawing a curved line to outline the face. Shade two small teardrop shapes to indicate the nostrils.
Then, sketch the eye, using two curved lines that don't quite meet at the corners to enclose the eye. Shade a small oval for the pupil.

2. Use a long curved line to draw the okapi's lower jaw. On top of its head, use inverted "V" shaped lines for the ossicones.
Enclose the ear using two curved lines that meet at a gentle point. Connect the ear to the ossicone with a curved line.

3. Draw the remaining ear - extend a curved line from the head and double it back on itself. Contour each ear with a curved line.
Then, extend long curved lines from the ear and jaw to outline the neck. Extend a curved line from the front of the neck to form the chest, and contour the neck with a curved line.

4. Use a series of curved lines to enclose the leg. Band the bottom of the leg with a curved line to create the hoof. Draw a narrow "V" shaped line to indicate the split in the hoof.

5. Extend the line of the neck to trace the back and the back of the rear leg. Use additional lines for the belly, the front of the rear leg, and to contour the shoulder.

6. Draw the curved, rectangular hoof at the bottom of the rear leg. Extend two long curved lines for the remaining front leg, and connect them with a short line at the bottom.
Band the bottom of the leg to create the hoof. Detail each hoof with a "V" shaped line.

7. Draw the remaining rear leg using two long curved lines. Connect them and band the leg with short lines, and detail the hoof with a "V" shaped line.
Use a series of curved lines to enclose the tail and the jagged tuft of hair at its end.
