How to Draw a Great Looking Mount Rushmore for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the Mount Rushmore outline with the George Washington drawing.
Use curved lines to trace his face, hair, eyes, eyebrows, nose, and mouth. Shade a round pupil in each eye. Notice the president's distant expression.

2. Use curved lines to trace the top of Washington's head, the triangular lapels of his suit jacket, and the necktie or cravat around his neck.
Then, begin the Thomas Jefferson drawing. Use curved lines to draw his eye and nose. Notice that he is facing in the opposite direction.

3. Use curved lines to outline Jefferson's face, hair, mouth, eyebrows, and his remaining eye.

4. Use curved lines to sketch the face of Theodore Roosevelt. Outline the face, brows, eyes, nose, and mustache. Shade a round pupil inside each eye.

5. Finish Roosevelt's face, using curved lines for the hair and shorter lines for the chin, side of the face, and to texture the hair.
Then, begin the Abraham Lincoln drawing, using curved lines to trace the brows, eyes, nose, and mouth. Shade a round pupil inside each eye.

6. Use curved lines to outline Lincoln's hair, the side of his face, his cheeks, and his beard.
Then, use long curved lines to begin tracing the mountains in the distance and the cliff face located next to Lincoln's head.

7. Use long, curved lines to texture the mountainside. Then, begin an evergreen tree drawing at the bottom of the page. Use curved lines that meet in points to sketch the layered branches of the tree.

8. Draw more pine trees at the base of the mountain. Notice how some are larger, indicating they are closer to the view. Note, too, that many of the trees blend into a single outline rather than being discreet.

9. Use two long curved lines to draw the triangular pile of stone in front of the mountain and texture it with short lines. Then use connected "U" shaped lines to indicate fluffy clouds in the sky up above.
