How to Draw a Great Looking Cartoon Elephant for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the cartoon elephant outline by drawing the animal’s eye. Draw a short curved line for the top of the cheek, then enclose a partial oval above it.
Draw two more successively smaller ovals inside it. Shade between them to indicate the pupil. Then, draw a long curved line to begin the elephant’s trunk.

2. Enclose another partial oval on top of the trunk, with two more successively smaller ovals inside it. Shade between them. Then, draw a “U” shaped smiling mouth with a short curved line at one corner.

3. Extend a curved line from the previous one, and double it back on itself to form the tusk. Extend a curved line on one side of the tusk to form the bottom of the head.
Extend one from the other side, parallel to the top of the trunk. Connect them at the end with a curved line like the number “3.”

4. Draw a “C” shaped line near the end of the trunk. From the front of the trunk, extend a curved line and double it back on itself to form the remaining tusk.
Then, use a series of overlapping curved lines to form the side of the face, brow, top of the head, and ear.

5. Complete the ear using a scalloped line. Draw the second ear to match it. Contour the ears with curved lines. Then extend another curved line below the head.

6. Draw the elephant’s body and legs, using overlapping curved lines.

7. Use long curved lines to enclose the two remaining legs. Then begin drawing the elephant’s toenails using “U” shaped lines.

8. Complete the “U” shaped toenails. Then, extend two curved lines from the elephant’s rump. Allow them to meet at a point, forming the tail.
Then, use a series of curved lines that meet at sharp points to form a tuft of fur at the tip of the tail.
