Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Chinchilla

How to Draw a Great Looking Chinchilla for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the cartoon chinchilla outline by drawing the animal's large eyes. Use curved lines to outline the eyes and the front of the nose. Then shade large, round pupils inside each eye.
Drawing Step 2

2. Draw a rounded "W" shaped line for the chinchilla's mouth, with small teardrop shapes for the nostrils. Contour above the eyes and nose with short lines.

3. Use a series of curved lines to sketch the chinchilla's head. Notice the short lines that meet at jagged points at the side of the face, giving it a furry texture.
For the ear, extend a long curved line and double it back on itself, then contour inside it with a curved line.
Drawing Step 4

4. Draw the remaining ear. Again, extend a long curved line, double it back on itself, and contour it with a curved line.
Then, use a series of long and short lines to draw the raised arm and paw. Notice the short, overlapping lines of the toes and the furry texture at the elbow.
Drawing Step 5

5. Draw the belly using a long curved line. Use a series of overlapping curved lines to draw the remaining foreleg and paw.
Drawing Step 6

6. Use a series of lines to draw the chinchilla's back and its rear leg. Notice the furry texture on the shoulders and at the knee, and the overlapping lines of the toes.
Drawing Step 7

7. Draw the remaining rear leg. Use a series of curved lines - jagged ones for the furry knee and overlapping ones for the toes.
Then, use long and short lines that meet at points to begin sketching the bushy tail.
