How to Draw a Scary Tree

1. Sketch two teardrops with circles inside them like halved avocados, then draw hooks that overlap these shapes. Add a curve and triangle to the left hook and a detached curve to the right hook.

2. Draw loose rectangle shapes above the eyes, then sketch curves beneath them. Underneath, draw five loose triangles like flames. Add a vertical line on each side.

3. Complete the mouth with jagged triangles. For the roots, sketch three horizontal curves and two wavy lines beneath them.

4. Draw more roots around the tree with curves, hooks and wavy lines. Make the roots look wide and uneven.

5. Sketch another root on the right, then outline the face with two small hills and vertical lines. Draw a branch with wavy lines that end in narrow triangles.

6. Add two more narrow triangles and a curve. On the right, sketch more curves and straight lines, including three small triangles.

7. Draw three narrow triangles that curve downward, making sure they overlap each other. Add a vertical line, then sketch the upper branch with swooping curves. Include four thin triangles.

8. Add a diagonal line and more swooping curves. Sketch more branches on the left with the same curves and wavy lines.

9. Draw a final branch on the top, then sketch wavy lines throughout the body to give the bark texture. Outline your scary tree drawing with black ink. Erase the pencil lines once the ink dries.

Color your scary tree in three shadows of brown for the base color, highlights and shadows.

Use muted green and blue for the background to create a spooky atmosphere. Add yellow, orange and dark brown inside the eyes and mouth.
