3. Shade two small teardrop shapes inside the nose to indicate the nostrils.
Use a short curved line for the lower jaw and from it extend a long curved line to form the sea lion's chest and belly. Use two curved lines to enclose the pointed ear near the eye.
Drawing Step 4

4. Continue the line of the head, then use a series of overlapping long and short lines to draw the sea lion's back. Use another long line to begin its flipper.
Drawing Step 5

5. Continue the line of the flipper and allow it to form a scalloped pattern. From it extend a long curved line to continue the belly.
Drawing Step 6

6. Draw the remaining front flipper. Extend a curved line and a longer curved line from the sea lion's chest. Allow the longer line to double back on itself, forming a scalloped pattern and meeting the other line.
Drawing Step 7

7. Use a series of curved lines to draw the sea lion's rear flippers. Notice the scalloped edge at the tip of the flipper.

Sea lions are a type of seal, but there are several differences between them and other seals. They are called "eared seals" because their ears are visible on the outsides of their heads.
Sea lions can also stand up on their front flippers and swivel their back flippers in ways that seals can't. Check out this baby seal drawing to compare the two.
Sea lions are also similar to walruses in their body shape. The biggest difference is the walruses' huge tusks. You can see them in this walrus drawing.
