How to Draw a Great Looking Warthog for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the cartoon warthog outline by drawing its eyes and ears. Use curved lines to outline both.

Draw a curved line inside each ear, and shade a small oval in each eye. Notice the lines that indicate the pointed brow.

2. Use curved lines to trace the triangular sides of the face. These features are the "warts" that give the animal its name. Then, use curved lines to detail the top of the nose and snout.

3. Enclose a curved shape below the face, and connect it with overlapping lines on each side.

Extend curved lines and double them back upon themselves to enclose the two pointed tusks. Draw short curved lines to indicate the nostrils of the nose.

4. Use a series of long and short curved lines, connected at jagged points, to enclose the warthog's mane. Then, use curved lines to draw and contour the chest.

5. Use long curved lines to draw the sides of the leg. Connect them at the bottom with short lines and a "V" shaped line.

Contour the top of the hoof with short lines, and use another to connect the side of the leg to the chest.

6. Draw the remaining foreleg. Again, use long curved lines to draw the sides of the leg and connect them at the bottom with short lines and a "V" shaped line. Contour the top of the hoof with short lines.

7. Use a long curved line for the warthog's stomach. Contour its side with additional curved lines.

8. Use a long curved line to draw the animal's rump and the side of the rear leg. Complete the leg by drawing another long line, and connecting their ends with a "V" shaped line and two short lines.

9. Draw the final leg. Use long curved lines to draw the sides of the leg. Connect them at the bottom with short lines and a "V" shaped line.

Then, extend a pair of curved lines from the rump and allow them to meet at a point, forming the tail. Draw a teardrop shape at the end of the tail, and texture the hair with curved lines.

Your cartoon warthog outline is now complete. Color your character. Real warthogs are dark gray, but Pumbaa is dark red with a pink nose and a black mane.
