Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing an Agouti

How to Draw a Great Looking Agouti for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the agouti outline by drawing a curved line to outline the animal’s face.
Then, use two curved lines that don’t quite meet at the corners to outline the eye. Shade a large circle inside the eye to indicate the pupil.
Drawing Step 2

2. Draw the ear using two curved lines that meet at a gentle point.
Near the tip of the nose, draw a curved line that doubles back on itself to indicate the nostril. Then, extend a “Y” shaped line to complete the snout and lower jaw.

3. Use a curved line to enclose the remaining ear, partially hidden by the first.
Then, use a series of curved lines that meet at jagged points to draw the neck and the top of the leg. The jagged lines lend the texture of fur.
Drawing Step 4

4. Use long and short curved lines to draw the paw and its toes. Enclose a narrow, curved triangular claw at the end of each toe.
Drawing Step 5

5. For the belly and at the back of the head, use a series of jagged curved lines to give the appearance of fur. Use long curved lines to draw the agouti's back and hips.
Drawing Step 6

6. Draw the foot using long curved lines, with short lines and curved triangles for the toes and claws.
Drawing Step 7

7. Complete the rear paw, then draw the remaining foreleg. Again, use a series of curved lines that are at places jagged to indicate fur, and curved triangles for the claws.

Agoutis' faces are somewhat squirrel-like in appearance, but they lack the squirrel's bushy tail. Compare the two by completing this squirrel drawing. They also eat nuts like squirrels, but they don't climb trees.
