Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing Paella

How to Draw a Great Looking Paella for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the paella outline by drawing the cooking pot. Start with a large oval. Enclose a "C" shape on one side for the handle.
Extend curved lines from the oval, passing behind the handle, and connect them at the bottom with a long curved line.
Drawing Step 2

2. Draw a curved line parallel to the edge of the pot. Then use a series of short, connected curved lines to begin drawing the contents of the pot.

Drawing Step 3

3. Draw two overlapping crescent moon shapes and band each with a "C" shaped line. These are lemon wedges. Then continue the series of connected curved lines that give the contents the texture of rice.
Drawing Step 4

4. Draw shrimp in the pot. For each shrimp, draw a curved line and double it back on itself to form an incomplete teardrop shape.
Then use a series of connected lines to form the scallop-shaped tail. Draw curved lines like spokes across the lemon wedges to indicate the segments.
Drawing Step 5

5. Complete the shrimp, banding one end with a curved line and drawing the tail from "U" shaped lines on the opposite end.
Draw another shrimp in the same way, then draw a series of lines across the contents of the pot that again indicate rice. Enclose an oval shape on top of it. This is the shell of a clam, muscle, or oyster.
Drawing Step 6

6. Use a curved line to enclose the oval-shaped top of the oyster shell. Texture the shell with curved lines and use a series of curved lines to draw the meat within it.
Then draw another oyster in the same way - two oval-shaped portions of shell, an irregular shaped bit of meat inside, and curved lines to texture each piece.
Drawing Step 7

7. Draw curved lines across the shrimp. Enclose several pieces of olive. For each olive, draw an irregular round shape.
Draw a curved line and a "C" shaped line across it to indicate the cut section and the area where the pit has been removed.

9. Draw series of connected curved lines across the top of the rice to texture. Detail the side of the pot with a few curved lines. Draw long lines in a cloud-like formation above the pot to indicate steam.
Color Your Paella Drawing

Your paella drawing is now complete. Color your dish. The rice itself is usually yellowish from saffron. The olives may be green or black and shrimp typically turn pink when cooked.
