Mario and his entourage are among the most famous video game characters ever. The little Italian plumber first appeared in a video game in 1981. Over the years, he's played alongside a menagerie of friends and villains, many of which you'll meet among these Super Mario Bros. drawing tutorials for kids and beginners.
Due to the limitations of early video games, Mario was first drawn using square pixel dots on a 16 by 16 square grid.
You'll find this pixel art Mario below. It's one of the easiest ones to draw - all you have to do is color inside the lines. You'll also find his more detailed appearances from later video games.

You can use these drawings to recreate scenes from your favorite games. For example, you could draw Mario rescuing Princess Peach from Bowser's castle. Or you could draw Mario before and after he encounters a Mario mushroom!
You'll probably want to color your drawings, too. After all, without their green and red shirts, how could you tell Mario and Luigi apart? Or how could you distinguish a 1-Up mushroom from a poison mushroom?

Do you have your paper and pencil ready? What about your crayons, markers, or colored pencils? Yes? Good! Let's a-go, okey dokey?
