How to Draw a Llama Step 01

1. Begin by sketching the llama's face. Outline the face using a long curved line, noting the contours of the cheeks and chin. Draw the eyes by enclosing small circles within larger circles. Shade between the two smallest to indicate the pupil. Draw an inverted, rounded triangle for the nose, and a rounded "W" shaped line beneath it for the mouth.

"Please stop all this llama drama...
Little Llama, don't you know
Your Mama Llama loves you so?
Mama Llama's always near,
Even if she's not right here."
- Anna Dewdney, Llama Llama Red Pajama

The llama was domesticated by the Incas of South America hundreds or perhaps thousands of years ago.

Today, it is still used as a pack animal, and its wool is used to make cloth. The llama is often confused with the alpaca.

The llama has appeared in clothing and other designs from its native land for centuries. In recent years, the llama has taken center stage in popular culture, along with other unusual animals like sloths and narwhals.

Llama stickers, notebooks, coffee mugs, and more can be found in abundance. Baby Llama and Mama Llama star in the popular children's book series, Llama Llama Red Pajama.
