How to Draw an Easy Realistic Lion

1. Begin the easy realistic lion outline by drawing its eyes. For each eye, use two curved lines, noticing that they don't quite meet at the corners.

Shade a small circle inside each eye. Below the eyes, draw two curved lines for the sides of the nose and another for the top of the nose pad.

2. Use a series of curved lines to complete the nose pad and nostrils. Draw a curved "W" shaped line below it to begin the lion's mouth.

3. Use a series of short, curved lines that meet at jagged points to enclose the lion's jaw below the mouth. Use another to draw the edge of the mane on the forehead.

4. Use disconnected curved lines to sketch the sides of the lion's face and short lines that meet at jagged points to begin sketching the mane below the ears.

5. Use a "C" shaped line to enclose an ear above each patch of mane. Contour them with curved lines. Then, use lines that meet at jagged points to begin drawing the top of the mane.

6. Continue to draw the mane using pairs of curved lines that meet at jagged points.

7. Complete the bottom of the mane with jagged lines. Use shorter lines that also meet at jagged points at the sides of the face and down the center of the forehead. Contour above each eye with a short line.

8. Use curved lines for additional contouring around the eyes. Draw three rows of dots on each side of the mouth, and extend several whiskers from them.

9. Texture the fur of the mane with pairs of curved lines that meet at points.

Your easy realistic lion outline is now complete. Color your lion head. Most lions have tan fur with darker manes. Sometimes their fur is white. Their manes may have tinges of red or even black.
